I've watered this stupid thing, I've changed the water, I've flipped it over...and the seed turned brown. I've moved it around, I've put it under the heating duct in my kitchen.....and nothing happened. I started questioning my ability to complete this mission. Is my attention span too short to tackle the fine art of window sill gardening? Has MTV jaded me to the point of not being able to appreciate some of the more basic tasks that we humans need to take on to survive?

Thankfully after almost 4 months we've got some action. I'm not sure where I will go from here. Do I move it to the soil right away? Should I wait it out and let the roots develop a bit more? I don't know. But, what I do know is that I've made it this far and there's no giving up now.

Victory will be mine.

...and so it began.

While sitting in a tiny Chicago bar on a Saturday afternoon an idea was planted, no pun intended, and the gauntlet was thrown down. Staring at that bowl of fresh guacamole most men may have simply said, "We should ask for more chips." But not us...we knew there were greater things at work there...those two giant seeds were the seeds of destiny, a call to action...and so it began. The Avocado War.

With the alcohol out of my system this morning, I was able to reassess the terms of this challenge. They are simple:

2 men
2 seeds
1 year
1 goal: He with the biggest plant wins.

Let the countdown begin. On November 18th, 2006, during the Michigan vs. Ohio State game, the winner will be decided by a panel of judges at that same little Chicago bar.

My seed is in the water. This blog will track the progress, and will most likely deteriorate in to many other ridiculous discussions. Let the games begin.
